Today's trivia

I have a trivia question for ya since everyone seems to be down in KY at Rolex besides me I thought a good ole' Kentucky trivia question would be fitting.  Though there is a small chance me and the family may be making our way to Lexington in the morning to watch Cross Country!  So here it is:

Where did the Kentucky traditional black fences/barns come from?

I wish I had a prize for the first correct answer but hey you never know I can probably come up with something creative to send off to one other lucky blogger...lol.

  1. The only answer I could find is that it isn't paint, but creosote, which keeps termites and things away on the barns, and to keep the horses from rubbing and chewing on the fences. Is that right?

  2. Sorry Promise that is not the correct answer.

  3. Nope not it either. I may have to start giving hints soon. Keep trying. I am actually headed down to Rolex this morning so I will take some photos of some of those barns.

  4. I don't know the answer to the black fence/barn thing, but do love how it looks. :) I want a black three rail fence around my place someday.

......... I was curious though and googled it . . . is that cheating?

Most of the things I found were about the creosote, but I also found somewhere that black means it's a working farm and white means it's a show farm. Is that the right answer? I don't need a prize if it is because I cheated lol!

  6. That is not the answer. There is a very practical/functional reason behind it. I did end up going to Rolex...lol. I will post on why/how that happened.
